Daniel Glynn
Daniel is a highly sought after orchestral musician, having performed with such notable ensembles as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Grant Park Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Philharmonic, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, Florida Orchestra, Florida Grand Opera, Opera Naples, the Callipygian Players, and the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra. He has been a full-time member of both the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and the New World Symphony. While a member of the Civic Orchestra, Daniel was a featured soloist in Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante with members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He currently holds the second oboe position with the Rockford Symphony, previously having held positions in the Sarasota Orchestra, Sarasota Opera Orchestra, and Ash Lawn Opera (now the Charlottesville Opera.)
Daniel has been awarded the first prize in both the Union League and Civic Arts Foundation Competition, as well as having been named the Luminarts Classical Music Winds Fellow. He received The Mericos Foundation Full Fellowship to attend the Music Academy of West, as well as the Bowers Noyce Oboe Fellowship to attend the Aspen Music Festival, where he studied with Elaine Douvas and Richard Woodhams. As the recipient of the Garwood Welch Scholarship, in addition to a generous Eckstein Grant, Daniel earned both a Bachelor and Master of Music from Northwestern University as a student of Michael Henoch and Scott Hostetler. He was also the first oboist to receive a Professional Studies Certificate from The Colburn School in Los Angeles, CA.
Daniel currently teaches students of all ages and ability levels at DePaul University's School of Music in Lincoln Park (CMD) as well as privately throughout Chicago's North Suburbs. He has presented masterclasses to the oboe students at venues including The University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Akron, Yonsei University, and Midwest Young Artists Conservatory.
